Dear Friends,

I would like to graciously welcome you to the website of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the Republic of Turkey.

We hope and believe the information provided here will be helpful in your aspirations and plans to visit Somalia soon or to be updated about the activities of the Somali Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.

Somalia and the Republic of Turkey have remained great friends and deep allies since the 16th century, with the existence of solid Diplomatic partnerships in different areas of strategic cooperation.

From enhanced partnership for Economic prosperity and Enhancement of Security to Urban Planning and Development, our collaboration has furthered our shared bilateral goals and deepened our ties going forward into the future.

It is with this foundation that we can proudly say, our existing bond is built on mutual trust and for the success of our two great nations.

As we continue to be guided by the pillars of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) where we share membership, I reiterate that I am looking forward to strengthening our cooperation, embracing closer bilateral ties, and discovering more areas for further cooperation to give birth to the growth of more opportunities.

Ambassador of Somalia to Turkey.

Visa requirements and conditions.


Persons wishing to enter Somalia for a temporary visit, require the following entry Visa:

  • Business or to take part in a conference


  1. 2 Photos.
  2. Completed Visa Application form
  3. Passport (Valid for 6 Months)
  4. Non-Refundable Fee: Made payable to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia
  5. Invitation letter from Company in Somalia
  6. Letter from a Company or the government
  7. Non-Personal Visa Application Notarization Letter Required.



You may need an entry visa to stay in Somalia for a maximum period of  90 days.

Different rules apply if you wish to stay longer than 90 days in Somalia and in this case you may require an authorization for a temporary stay.

The application should be submitted to the Embassy of Somalia in Ankara.

Decisions whether to grant entry visa or not generally may take up to a month.

In some cases, applications are forwarded to the Somali Immigration and Naturalization Department for a decision

Entry Visa requirements

Completed Visa application Form – Incomplete forms may cause delays in issuance of applicant’s visa.

People intending to travel to Somalia may inquire with the Directorate of Immigration & Naturalization whether they need to obtain a visa prior to arrival. The processing time of Somali visas is can take several working days so be sure to file an application in good time.

The type of visa that you require for entry into Somalia depends on several different factors such as your nationality, the purpose of your planned visit and duration

It is a requirement for travelers to have at least six months validity remaining on their passports.

Biography of the Ambassador.


Ambassador Jama Abdullahi Mohamed, born 10th October 1967, is an accredited ICT engineer, business developer, and entrepreneur who has initiated a number of successful multisector business ventures in Somalia, Middle East and East Africa for the last three decades.

He has previously served UN Agencies including UNDP Somalia. He was also Chairman of executive board Committee of Nugaal University – Lasanod.

Ambassador Jama has spent a large portion of his career on community service, humanitarian work, development of education and conflict resolution initiatives in Puntland and Somaliland regions. This is also significant for the humanitarian cooperation involving Somalia and Turkey.

Ambassador Jama is currently a Ph.D. Candidate and an MBA Graduate in Project Management from Open University of Malaysia (OUM).

He is a qualified Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) and has completed Advanced VSAT Installation and Maintenance Certification (Level 3S).

He brings with him a wealth of leadership, humanitarian, entrepreneurial experience to strengthen ties between the two nations at a time when the trade Diplomacy between Turkey and Somalia is on a solid rise.

H.E President Mohamed Farmaajo appointed H.E Ambassador Jama Abdullahi Mohamed as Present Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador for the Federal Republic of Somalia to the Republic of Turkey in May 2017. Ambassador Jama Abdullahi Mohamed officially presented his letter of credence to Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex on 16th August 2017.

Waxaykaloo kudadaalaysa adkaynta iyo hubinta sharciyada dokumeentiyada la tasdiiqayo si loo helo in lagu kalsoonaado dokumeentiga soomaaliga ah.

Waxaan kacodsanaynaa muwaadiniinta soomaaliyeed inay nagala shaqeeyaan sax ahaanta waraaqaha ay doonayaan in loo tasdiiqo soona mariyaan haya”adaha kushaqadaleh.
